I am using Windows Vista; I have set up e-mail notification using a Gmail account. The test message works (and gives the correct new IP address), but I cannot get notification of IP changes or regular notifications. The Help section did show that Gateway IP Monitor works with Vista and the help screens show the example with Gmail. Any suggestions?

Hi, the software looks perfect for my need.
Unfortunately I cannot get the email notification working.
The program is installed on a server running XP Pro. I just configured as a test outlook express, and it is able to send email out via my ISP server.
If I put in exactly the same info to the config of Gateway IP Montor, along with with my login ID and password, and then press "Test" I see a pop up with the message "Unable to connect to SMTP server" "503 #5.3.3 AUTH Not Available"
fyi SMTP server is shawmail.cc.shawcable.net
SMTP port is 25
security toggle is off.
all these settings match outlook express equivalent settings.
???
thanks for any advice
Brian

I have a PC with XP SP3 and the latest updates.
Gateway IP Monitor Ver 1.40
The installation completed successfully
There is no Virus or Spyware apps running on the PC
The firewall is currently turned off

The configuration is fine (installed this on a fe wother machines and it is fine) and the test email works with no problem.
The issue I am having is when you Right-Click on the tray icon and choose "Show current IP Address" no balloon message appears. Also, the interval emails are not being sent either. There are no errors in the event log. The correct IP address does show up when I open the Gateway IP Monitor Application.

Any ideas?

HI, I'm running Gateway IP Monitor v1.4.

I use the email notificaiton feature.

When i first installed and configured, i put in 2 email address for the notifications to be sent to. It is configured to send any time the IP is changed or to update every 1 day.

Well, of the 2 email addresses where notifications go to, one address was initially typed in wrong. It was accidentally typed is a combination of my home and work emails. Oops.

Anyhow, as soon as i got my first undeliverable, i went back into the program, removed the incorrect email address, put in the correct one and applied the changes.

Ever since... i now get notifications at the 2 correct email addresses, however, i ALSO GET 1 UNDELIVERABLE email message, every day, becuase Gateway IP Monitor is still trying to send to that original incorrect email.

I have been all over my PC looking for where Gateway IP Monitor is storing that email address, and i can't find it.

Can someone please tell me how to fix this? I'm guessing there is a file somewhere, that Gateway IP Monitor uses to store the email addresses... i need to know where it is, the name of it, and how to edit to get rid of that invalid email address.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Terster

I use Gateway IP Monitor to keep track of several PC's on my "network of users" so that in the event of trouble I can visit these PC's via pcAnywhere.

Most of these PC's work with no trouble at all. But one connected to a Verizon FIOS network refuses to pass the Authenitication test. This PC is a Windows XP unit, with all service packs and updates installed. He runs the Windows Firewall, and AVG ( version 8) Antivirus Software.

I have tried several times to configure the "Authentication window" with the proper ID and Password and always get the error " 535 5.8.9 Bad Username or password - Authentication failed". I have even left these fields BLANK as I do with Road Runner Accounts ( which works on RR) and still get errors.

The ID and Password are exactly what I use in Outlook 2003 to sign on to this account for sending and receiving Email.

Any suggestions.??

I have set up Gateway IP Monitor to automatically send emails every 4 hours...which it does as long as the IP address doesn't change. However, when the IP address changes, the program shuts down and does not restart. That basically makes the program utterly useless. Is there a fix for this or a reason it's happening? If not, does anyone know of a way to automatically restart the computer when the IP address changes?

I installed ver 1.21 and set the email Regular Notification to 1 minute in order to test the program. After confirming that it worked, I changed the interval to every 12 hours and clicked "Apply" and then "OK," but the emails kept arriving every minute. I stopped and restarted the service to no avail. The program correctly showed the interval as 12 hours. The corresponding "notification_interval" registry entry also showed 12. The only way I could stop the every-minute emails was to uninstall and reinstall the program. I'm using Windows Vista.

Thanks for taking a look at this!

George
