iPhone App
  • Scott Cave June 2011

I can't connect to our server through the app. I am entering th exact URL that I use in my browser to connect. We don't use authentication to get the reports through the browser, so I left those fields blank in the app. Is authentication required in the app?

    Hi Scott,

Just to be sure, are you using the latest version of EventSentry, v2.92?

When you say browser, do you mean the browser on the iPhone, or on your PC?

Are you getting any error messages from the iPhone app?

  • Scott Cave June 2011

Yes, we are running the latest version, 2.92. I am referring to the browser on my PC. The message on the iPhone app says, "Unable to connect to web reports, check conectivity and settings."
The settings I am using are -
    Web Reports URL: http://[servername]:8080/eventsentry/index.asp
    Profile: DEFAULT
    Authentication: all blank

Thanks for the additional info. Is the [servername] you specified reachable from the iPhone? Have you tried the IP address? It sounds like the iPhone is not able to connect to the server, either because it's behind a firewall or because the name resolution doesn't work.

    Authentication is not required.

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for the information. Please try the URL without index.asp. The app uses this value as a base URL to pull the appropriate information.

    Web Reports URL: http://[servername]:8080/eventsentry/

    I hope this helps.

  • I'm having the same problem with an itouch. Any resolution?

Did you try the suggestions above? Scott was using the wrong URL, it should work with the URL that Ryan posted.

If that doesn't work, then please answer the questions from my first post on top.

  • version 2.92

we are using the default web port 80 for eventsentry

    url: http://[server-name]/eventsentry/
    http://[ip-address]/eventsentry/

tried with both an itouch and ipad (both using wifi for connection)

error message - Unable to connect to web reports, check connectivity and settings.

from inside and outside our firewall, I am able to access web eventsentry using the above url's with firefox or ie, but not with the iPhone app.

Thanks for the additional info. You say that you can access the web reports using firefox and ie, have you tried accessing the web reports from safari on the itouch or ipad?

This might be a connectivity problem on the device?

  • Using safari, I'm able to get to the login page and log in.

A message box pops up - Adobe Flash Player 8 is needed to view the charts. I click on ok and I'm taken to a page that states Flash is available for your device because of Apple restrictions.

I can cancel out of the message box and I'm able to view the home page for our EventSentry service.

OK, so the connectivity is fine then.

On the iPhone app, what do you have configured for the profile? Is the field empty, or did you specify a profile?

I would try to erase any values in there, or specify the profile that you see in the eventsentry web reports (top right, left of "options").

Finally, can you try to completely exit the iPhone App (let me know if you need instructions on how to do that) and restart it?
