Is there a way to monitor a specific registry key or hive for changes? Not the basic software installation but a more generalized key. We have an ODBC connection that we want to monitor for changes and the easiest way to do that is to monitor it's registry key.

however that solution checks to see if the event occured at all in the set time frame. What I need to do is check if an event hasn't occured in a rolling window and if so, notify us.

We have an app which runs 24/7 and essentially writes out to a log file every five minutes various stats and such. We currently have an app we have written inhouse that checks that file periodically and if the last modified date ever gets too old, it notifies us. We then know the app has crashed or closed and we fix it or another system restarts it automatically.

EventSentry comes very close to that but I can't seem to configure it for that scenario. It would be easy to write to the event log our stats instead of a log file but I don't think that would help EventSentry.

Is it possible and I just haven't figured it out yet? If not, is that something that might get written into EventSentry in the future? One of the notification addresses I've configured in Event Sentry is an inexpensive prepay cellphone. When test notifications have gone out, this particular phone displays a message 202 - Message cannot be displayed. A quick troll of the carrier support forum suggests that the recalcitrant phone only supports single SMS messages and it's choking on a concatenated or enhanced SMS transmission. Does that sound like what's happening?

Related to this, is there any way I might work around this by crafting a less than 160 character message for the trouble phone?

Just have a simple problem. On the web reports, under computer overview, I see the performance chart which shows CPU, System Memory and Disk Queue Length. I know that I can change this by click on each of these headers which gives me a drop down list. Next to this drop down list there is a setting which currently states as 'n/a'. If I select this, it gives me another drop down list asking for other options such as _total etc.

If I choose not to select anything and select the blank field at the top, the drop down menu disappears completely so that I cannot change this again in the future. For a couple of graphs, I have locked myself out of changing the graphs.

I have tried clicking on 'restore default order' but I cannot get the option to reappear.

Can you test this and let me know how to restore this option?

I am having problems creating the database for Event Sentry during the install. During the install after specifying the database name and details, I get the following error.

Error 27506. Error executing SQL script permissions_common_msl. Line 5. Cannot find the object 'ESEventlogLog', because it does not exist or you do not have permission. (15151).

Can you tell what needs to be done to resolve this?

The SQL software is 2012 Express on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64 bit server. Trying to install the latest version of EventSentry (2.92).

Web Reports Error

EventSentry was unable to connect to the database due to the following error:

I am running ES 2.92.11 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit Server.

Our database is Oracle, and I do have the Oracle 11g R2 32-bit client installed on the box as well.

32-bit ODBC is configured properly and ES can communicate with the Oracle DB just fine.

When I went to setup the Web Reports, I got everything setup properly, then upon going to setup the connection to the Oracle Database, I get the below error.

Attempt Failed. Error -2147467259
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

Here is my ODBC connection String (same one used in the ES Database Connection):

Everything else works just fine, except this. I'm at an impass, and need help to get this working.

I wanted to Recconfigure / Repair my EventSentry Setup. After copying the files I get an error

"Error 27502. Could not connect to Microsoft SQL Server 'SERVERNAME'. Login failed for user 'sa'. (18456)"

EventSentry is configured for Microsoft SQL Server. In the registry I found in
HKLM\Software\netkikus.net\EventSentry\Installer that the dsn "EventSentry MSSQL" is used.
I cheched this dsn and it is correct. What I can't find in any way is the configuration for the user used to access the SQL Server with this dsn.

Any ideas on this.

This EventSentry installation runs on an Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2.

Then we inadvertently ran out of space on one server's C: drive (working on it...), and we got over 8500 eventsentry emails for THE SAME ERROR! MSSQLServerOLAPService event 11 (cant write a log file). Again 1 email would of been enough. Is there any way to configure EventSentry so that when it sees a duplicate event within that short amount of time to not send an email if it already did?

Just with literally thousands of emails on for the same issue is hard to manage. Especially if your on a mobile device trying to download a 10,000 message inbox over a 3G connection. It then becomes more of "the boy who cried wolf" syndrome where people start creating rules in Outlook to "permanently delete" certain messages (yes I'm guilty of this myself). It looses it's luster because people start to think "oh there's another event sentry message clogging my mailbox - delete!". That kind of defeats the whole purpose of the system.

i try the installation from eventsentry light on Server 2008 R2 sp1 x64 The installation is working till the services want to start and then i get error 1920 services can not start.
One Server 2003 it is working

I lwas logging in with the localadminaccount and i gave the Services my credentials with dommaine\adminisaccount +passwort but i doesnt work.
