  • HI Luke,

Could you navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\EventSentry\Web > and locate the web.config file, and if this file is there please rename it to web.config.old. Once you've done that, then please attempt to get into the web reports again.

  • Steve,

    Ok. new message.

    HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized

You do not have permission to view this directory or page because of the access control list (ACL) configuration or encryption settings for this resource on the Web server
  • HI Luke,

OK, it sounds like the permissions aren't quite right on the files. If you could navigate to your EventSentry install directory and open the 'IIS' folder. You should see a few enable_anonymous_access_*.cmd files, and I would like you to run the one that corresponds to the version of IIS you're running. This KB should also help as it has a list of files you can verify the permissions on:

Note: If you're running IIS 7, then you'll need to make sure that IUSR_COMPUTER & IIS_IUSR have permissions on those files).

  • Steven,

Still having problems with this which is getting strange. I have had a look at this in detail and this is what I have done so far.

I am trying the install EventSentry web reports on a Windows Server 2008 R2 server which is also a domain controller.

I did come across this problem on IIS 7.0

I have run the script which in turn recreates the IIS_USRS accounts which I thought would have something to do with the link you posted above.

I have gone through the link below

however, when I try and browse to the web reports it says that it 'cannot read configuration file' but it states that the configuration file is

    C:\Program Files (x86)\EventSentry\Web\ASP\web.config

I do not have a ASP folder within EventSentry.

ASP has been installed as part of the IIS install. Also, when I go into IIS, click on the EvenSentry website and click on 'authentication, I also get the same error message.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi Luke,

When you navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\EventSentry\Web, there is no \ASP folder there? Do you have hidden files shown (Tools > Folder Options > View, 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives')? On that machine, are you able to access http://localhost?

  • Steven,

I tried (Tools > Folder Options > View, 'Show hidden files, folders, and drives') and I still cannot see it. If I navigate to http://localhost I get the cannot read configuration file error

    C:\Program Files (x86)\EventSentry\Web\ASP\web.config
  • Hi Luke,

Is this the only website your hosting with IIS on this server? Would it be possible to remove the EventSentry virtual directory, and try to access http://localhost again? If you could call in, I'd like to work with you to get your issues resolved by doing another online meeting.
