Multiple EventSentry Management Servers and One WebReport

Is it possible to have two EventSentry Management servers and link them to the same webreports?

We were thinking about standing up another EventSentry server to monitor servers behind firewalls and have our existing server monitor all our other servers. If we do this, is there a way to link the webreports from the two EventSentry installs so we only have to login to one webpage to see the data?

Could they also write to the same database or would two separate databases need to be created?

Thank you in advance.

  • Hello,

This all depends largely on how your network is configured. If you wanted to use 1 database, you'll have to remember that each machine communicates directly with the database server. This would mean that you'd have to allow communication from the monitored host to the database server on the specific port.

In the web reports, if you're using the same database it would be very easy to just setup the 1 profile pointing to that database and you'd be able to see all the data.

If you need to have separate databases then you could setup multiple profile(s), one pointing to each of your database(s) and this would allow you to use 1 login and access both sets of data. If you use this option, then the machine you install them on would have to be able to access both database(s).

We also have several KB articles related to firewall questions:

    http://www.eventsentry.com/kb/40

If you'd like to manage all the host(s) from one management console that is possible to as long as you can allow communication to the hosts for install and then from those hosts to the database.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
